whether I have a legitimate excuse because I was not speeding through a yellow light nor entering the intersection after the light turned red. I'm assuming it's not illegal to go through a yellow light. I'm was traveling through the intersection on a yellow and had to slow down significantly due to unexpected circumstances out of my control, winding up in the intersection when the light turned red. Granted, I could have slammed on the brakes before the intersection. however, that's more wear and tear on my car and someone behind me might have rearended me for all I knew. Seemed safer to go through the yellow.
